Jonesborough Christmas Parade Outreach

 Instructions:

Parade Participation Information – Saturday, December 13

All individuals participating in the parade with our church are asked to arrive at the old Jonesborough School no later than 5:00 PM and no earlier than 4:00 PM.

Arrival & Parking
Please park in the grassy area upon arrival. Vehicles may not drive to the back of the school, and there will be no drop-offs for float participants. Everyone must park and walk to the designated area for our church bus and float.

Walkers
Those walking in the parade will board the church bus, which will transport participants to the parade starting point. Nick Lingerfelt will be driving the bus. He will stop at a designated corner where all walkers will disembark.

Walkers will already have handouts and buckets of candy canes ready to distribute. Additional supplies will be available on the float and assigned to specific individuals if needed.

Walkers must remain:

  • Along the sides of our float

  • In front of or alongside the church bus

Please do not walk behind the float.

Judging Area
Judging will take place near the Eureka Hotel. We will slow briefly at this point—please smile, wave, and be ready to wish spectators a joyful “Merry Christmas!”

End of Route & Bus Loading
As we approach the hill at the end of the route, all walkers must be prepared to board the church bus for the return trip to the school. It is extremely important to stay close to the bus during this portion. The bus will stop briefly to allow everyone to load. Anyone who does not board promptly may be left behind. Parade officials are very strict about maintaining spacing and keeping the parade moving without delays.

Float Riders
Those riding on the float—especially adults—must remain attentive and keep all eyes on the children to ensure safety at all times.

Important Parade Rules

  • No candy may be thrown under any circumstances. Failure to follow this rule could result in our church being banned from future parades.

  • Candy canes may be handed out only.

Attire & Extras
Please wear white clothing. Jingle bell necklaces, glow stick necklaces, and handheld jingle bells will be provided for all participants. Many of these items were donated, and we are very grateful to everyone who contributed.

Thank you to everyone planning to participate. Please be in prayer for each person who receives a handout—that hearts would be touched, seeds would be planted, and our community would be impacted for Christ. May we truly be a light in this community.

God bless you all.
