A Challenge from Pastor concerning this Sunday’s Jesus 1st Offering.

Luke 6:38—” 38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Have you ever heard the expression: “You cannot outgive God?” Well, Jesus is the originator of that expression. Jesus teaches from Luke’s gospel that if you give, you will receive. The giving that you give, will return to you in much greater ways and proportions. The same teaching from Christ’s words in this passage lines up with what Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9:6 concerning how plenteous you sow, will determine how plenteous you reap.

Most often, we are not offended when we are expected to pay for our meal, our utility bill, or our mortgage. However, when money is mentioned, or the need to give in the church or ministry is presented, folk get all bent out of shape. I heard a preacher say one time, the cheerful giver is NEVER the one who gets offended over the conversation or mention of money in the church. As the old saying goes, the dog that gets hit with the rock is the dog that barks.

As we prepare to give tomorrow in God’s house, remember, we are called to give, we are blessed to give, and we are privileged to give to the Lord and His work. Our church is growing leaps and bounds right now. The Lord is saving folk in the church, out of the church, and His blessing seems to be on nearly everything that we do. As we work toward expansion and a new church to worship in, you are vital in this endeavor. We all have an opportunity to get in on what God is doing through the ministry of Strong Tower Baptist Church. It doesn’t matter if anyone ever knows what you give. But we better know, God always knows what we give, and with Him, it always matters. Let’s pull together in tomorrows Jesus 1st Offering and see what the Lord is going to do through our sacrificial giving!

Blessings,

Pastor Ancel
