“THE SURETY OF ASSURANCE”

Professing Christians often struggle with the assurance of their salvation. Many factors contribute to this difficulty, leading to questions like: Did I pray correctly? Did I really mean it? Did I fully understand when I prayed for salvation? What if I did something wrong and am still lost? These concerns may seem trivial to some, but they are significant to those grappling with the certainty of their salvation.

False assurance of salvation is also a concern. The Bible provides numerous guidelines for the life of a regenerated believer. Instead of relying on heart and feelings, Christians should refer to God’s Word for understanding what it means to be a child of God.

I cannot think of anything scarier than having a false assurance of salvation. Unfortunately, churches and ministers all over the globe give assurance to people’s false assurance when the life that is being lived out, is nothing conducive with scriptures definition of a regenerated child of God. Getting this right is a matter of eternal life, or eternal death. This is an area that we must rest upon the authority of scripture, not on the feelings of man.

The Bible teaches that Christians are led by the Holy Spirit, who guides us into truth (John 16:13). True believers will have the Holy Spirit’s presence in their lives, leading them to make righteous decisions and protecting them from spiritual errors. A professing Christian without the Holy Spirit’s guidance is not a true convert.

The Bible clearly states believers have power over sin. The Holy Spirit continually leads God’s children, offering assurance. If you claim to follow Christ but lack the Holy Spirit’s leadership or can live in sin without conviction, it’s time to re-evaluate your spiritual state. Those led by the Holy Spirit are indeed God’s children.

Romans 8:13, 14—” 13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
