“SPIRITUAL ADOPTION RESTS ON GOD’S WORD”
God made Abraham, the father of the Jewish people and the father of faith a promise thousands of years ago; that promise rests on the word of God! There are two main points of God’s promise to Abraham; they are: 1) God will bless Abraham with a son, by which a great nation would be born, through the fulfilment of this promise, Abraham would become the father of a great number of people. 2)God would bless all people/nations through the seed of the promised child to Abraham.
Every promise found in scripture falls apart if the Abrahamic Covenant falls apart. There are various questions as to whether God has maintained His promise to Abraham or not, these questions are rooted in the overwhelming rejection of Christ by Ethnic Jews. From the moment of the conception of Christ, King Herod the Great sought to kill Him. The Jews rejected Christ from the moment of His earthly ministry. His teaching and preaching ministry were rejected by the Jews. Hours after the Jews waved palm branches and shouted Hosanna as Christ made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the same mob screamed CRUCIFY HIM!
“There are approximately 175,000 to 250,000 messianic Jews in the U.S, and 350,000 worldwide. About 10,000 to 20,000 live in Israel.” (Daley, 2025) “As of 2023, there are approximately 2.4 billion Christians worldwide, making Christianity the largest religion on the planet.” (Nakamura, 2024) With these numbers, it is hard to see the fulfilment of the Abrahamic Promise if the promise is limited to ethnic Jews. However, if we examine the promise considering Christians by grace through faith, the numbers make much more sense!
God’s hand is on the Jewish people, we cannot deny that. They are a small nation, hated by the world, and yet they stand. There is only one child of God, granted by grace through faith. Noone is His child based upon Ethnicity, including the Jews (Romans 9:6b.) We take comfort in these truths because His word never fails!
Isaiah 40:8—” 8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”
